Disability Inclusion in Child Protection and Gender-Based Violence Programs
PublishedThe following guidance notes and tools are a result of a partnership project between the Women’s Refugee Commission (WRC) and UNICEF Lebanon entitled “Strengthening Child Protection and Gender-based Violence Prevention and Response for Women, Children, and Youth with Disabilities.” The overall goal of the project is to improve violence prevention and response programming for at-risk groups of women, girls, and boys with disabilities. It builds on existing initiatives of gender-based violence (GBV) and child protection (CP) actors to systematically advance disability inclusion across the CP and GBV prevention and response sectors in Lebanon.
The resources have been developed based on the findings of a needs assessment conducted in 2017, which:
- Assessed and analyzed existing guidance, tools and training resources related to GBV, CP and psychosocial support (PSS) for disability inclusion;
- Identified gaps and opportunities to strengthen the inclusion of women, children and youth with disabilities in community-based PSS and Focused PSS initiatives, and GBV prevention and response activities; and
- Defined the capacity development needs and priorities of selected GBV and PSS actors on disability inclusion.
