Overburdened and Under Siege: Women in Sudan’s War
The war in Sudan has devastated the lives of women and girls in multiple ways—from repeated displacement to famine, from targeted ethnic violence to sexual violence.
Yet women continue to be sidelined from discussions and decision-making around the war and its impacts.
The Women’s Refugee Commission (WRC), Sudan Family Planning Association (SFPA), and Gender in Emergencies Group (GiE) are convening a diverse panel of Sudanese women and gender experts to share their first-hand experiences of how women have borne the brunt of Sudan’s war—and how the world must step up to support them.
This event follows the release of WRC, SFPA, and GiE’s joint report, In Her Own Words: Voices from Sudan, in which we shared the stories of more than 20 women who have been displaced by Sudan’s war.
