Visa Regimes: A Threat to Migrants’ Access to Safety and Asylum
PublishedIn this explainer, the Women’s Refugee Commission describes the US strategy of visa regimes; some of the regimes that have been put in place so far; the heightened risk of danger migrants in the Americas face with visa regimes in place; and how migrants’ ability to access protection may be jeopardized by these migration control measures. WRC recommends that the United States and countries in the region develop protection-centered solutions, instead of enforcement-based strategies, to address migration.
