Do Expedited Asylum Screenings and Adjudications at the Border Work?

Published

Expedited processing of asylum requests at the border hinges on unfair and unrealistic expectations that people seeking asylum can immediately and fully articulate their requests for protection. This factsheet addresses the dangers of expedited asylum processing at the US-Mexico border, including concerns on due process, erroneous decisions, and deportations of refugees.

The factsheet was developed in partnership with the Women’s Refugee Commission, Human Rights First, Center for Gender & Refugee Studies, The Center for Victims of Torture, and the Network Lobby for Catholic Social Justice.
