Gender-based violence is a pervasive, life-threatening issue for internally displaced people and refugees that is intensified in conflict or crisis. The prevention of and response to gender-based violence must be a priority in humanitarian response operations. The Women’s Refugee Commission is committed to ensuring that those at risk of gender-based violence, as well as survivors, have access to safe and comprehensive prevention and response services from the onset of an emergency. We work with refugees, humanitarian partners, donor governments, and local communities to ensure survivors’ access to health services and advocate for measures to protect and empower vulnerable populations.
