Incorporating Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights into Emergency Preparedness and Planning
PublishedWomen are disproportionately affected by disasters: 90 percent of those killed in the 1991 cyclone in Bangladesh and 80 percent of those killed in the 2004 tsunami were women and girls. For those who do survive, there are devastating, long-term effects on their sexual and reproductive health. In this new report, the Women’s Refugee Commission looks at activities to improve sexual and reproductive health and better prepare for disasters in Haiti, Uganda, and South Sudan.
