The Inter-Agency Working Group on Reproductive Health in Crises (IAWG) is a global coalition of organizations and individuals committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights in humanitarian settings. IAWG’s mission is to expand and strengthen access to quality sexual and reproductive health services for people affected by conflict and natural disaster. Its members form a highly collaborative and diverse network of more than 2,500 experts from over 120 countries and territories.
Our landmark 1994 “Refugee Women and Reproductive Health Care” report, unveiled at the International Conference on Population and Development, highlighted a near total absence of reproductive health services in humanitarian settings. WRC’s subsequent advocacy led to the creation of IAWG in 1995. WRC also contributed substantially to the first iteration of the Inter-Agency Field Manual and the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for Sexual and Reproductive Health in Crises Settings, which, nearly 30 years later, remain the cornerstones of Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) in humanitarian settings. WRC proudly hosted the IAWG secretariat for 10 years.
