Gender Equality

Gender equality means that all genders get equal resources, services, and opportunities. By focusing on achieving gender equality in humanitarian response, the different needs of refugee women and girls that are shaped by age, race, identity, and disability can be addressed and a path to the fulfillment of human rights and self-reliance can be achieved. The Women’s Refugee Commission invests in gender equality because we recognize the potential of women and girls as powerful agents of change. We work to ensure that humanitarian policy and practice support refugee women and girls, their empowerment, and their leadership.
