Sian has held numerous positions in international investment banking in London and abroad. Beginning in 1986 in corporate finance at Wood Gundy she liaised closely with equity and bond markets, aiding corporate finance in structuring and pricing of new issue deals from European and Canadian institutions. At Enskilda Securities, Sian was an investment analyst writing in depth research reports on most listed Scandinavian stocks covering a wide range of sectors and was Head European Forestry research sector. For Societe Generale in the early 1990s, Sian became a Senior investment analyst in Far East and lived and worked in 8 different emerging markets in the Far East, publishing extensive research on the markets in Indonesia, Philippines, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Hong Kong, China and Thailand. She established first stockbroking firm in Sri Lanka, setting up Crosby Securities joint venture with Commercial Bank of Colombo. Sian was made Director and Head of Sales at Societe Generale London in 1995. Establishing her own company Hansen Financial in 1996, Sian is a freelance investment analyst and advisor to hedge funds on corporate governance issues, research and marketing.
Sian is currently Managing Director of Policy Exchange the leading UK centre-right charitable think tank publishing in-depth research in all areas of public policy. As Managing Director she is responsible for fundraising, accounting and budgeting and all company operations including HR, IT, corporate governance issues, all aspects of compliance and staff management. Since joining Policy Exchange in 2006, Sian has developed strong relationships with leading UK philanthropists, politicians and government officials together with top UK companies.
Other Directorships include The Bush Theatre London (from 2001 – 2009), Trustee of Prospero World Trust (2009 to date) and non-executive director of Ludgate Environmental Fund Ltd (London AIM listed closed-end Investment Fund) since 2009.
