Summary of Workshop on Advancing UN Millennium Development Goals
PublishedAt the United Nations Millennium Summit in September 2000, 189 countries adopted the Millennium Declaration, which places development at the center of the global agenda and includes a set of interconnected and mutually reinforcing goals. The eight Millennium Development Goals set clear targets for reducing poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation and discrimination against women. Targets and indicators have been defined to track the progress in meeting the goals by 2015.
